The shockless double action pneumatic lift gravity drop hammer is the result of the practical application of the above law of physics governing impact or collision. By proper arrangement and control the opposing heads in the double action hammer meet each other with the same force at impact, causing them to stop without shock or vibration to their supporting members.
Whereas the force of each head is equal, all the energy excited at impact is consumed in performing work on the object being placed in the dies.
The dropping head is lifted by air and dropped by gravity and the proper time in its decent releases the anvil head which is propelled upward to meet the dropping head.
The motions of the two heads are reversed at impact and returned to operating position.
