The Perkin Elmer 341/343 Series Automatic Precision Polarimeters use the proven optical null principle with automatic rotation of the analyzer, which has been the basic of Perkin-Elmer's reputation for excellence in polarimetry. This principle is combined with state-of-the-art microprocessor electronics to produce an instrument offering the highest possible accuracy and precision with simple operation and handling. The angle of rotation is measured by an optical encoder with a resolution of 0.1 millidegrees and is displayed on a vacuum fluorescence display with the sign of rotation. A foil keyboard is used for operation. Wavelength and aperture are set via the keyboard. An ST46 Hg lamp and 20W Na lamp are used as light sources.
