I owned this VTR from its first day of use. It was used in combination with our Sony HDW-750p camcorder. I am selling the camcorder and our deliveries are now completely file based so I do not have any use of the VTR anymore. It was so rarely used in the last two years that I decided to sell it.
There is still a lot of life on the first head since Sony HD heads are good for 5000 hours.
The HDW-2000/20 can record and replay at 1080/50i, 1080/59.94i, 1080/25P, 1080/29.97P, 1080/23.98P and 1080/24P. (note: Pulldown output is not available in this model).
Built-in down-conversion of HDCAM tapes (except those recorded at 23.98 Hz or 24Hz) to 576i/480i is a standard feature.
Metadata handling, UMID (Unique Material Identifier Data) record capability, simplified menu setups and firmware upgrades via Memory Stick® media are standard features.
Capable of recording and playing back Dolby-E and AC-3 compressed audio stream.
High picture quality, long record time of up to 124 minutes. HDCAM uses intra-frame DCT compression using a compression ratio of about 7:1. There are four channels of 48kHz digital audio at 20-bit resolution.
Built in Down Conversion
1080i HD recordings can be simultaneously output in Standard Definition; HD material can be used in today's standard definition environments; SD output allows selection from squeeze, letterbox, and edge crop modes.
Ancillary date can be recorded in a dedicated portion of the vertical interval; this "metadata" can be used for user-defined data. Can also record UMID (Unique Material Identifier Data) as part of the Metadata stream.
Allows applications such as titling with a single VTR or A/B roll with just two VTRs.
This VTR is equipped with Sony's Tele-File system allowing the VTR to read the data directly from a Tele-File label attached to the video cassette; the labels allow easy cataloging of information about the video, including shot marks, scene numbers, and script information.
No compromise in editing performance
Assemble, insert and pre-read editing is provided. When used in pre-read mode, the HDW-2000/20 can be used to insert titles into video material using a single VTR.
Broadcast quality slow motion
The HDW-2000/20 has DT (Dynamic Tracking) heads as standard. Broadcast quality HDCAM pictures can be replayed in the range –1 to x2 speed.
High quality picture search and jog
Selecting edit points is easy with the HDW-2000/20. Pictures and sound can be searched at up to x50 normal speed.
The HDW-2000/20 uses a 4U chassis design, in common with MPEG IMX VTRs and the new DVW-M2000P series Digital Betacam VTRs.
Both Dolby-E and AC-3 are handled as standard
