Complete Plaster of Paris (POP) Bandage Coating plant with Solvent Recovery

Availability: listing already sold

Listing description

Plant for the coating of POP bandages, with solvent recovery system. Includes three 1000 litre stainless steel mixing vessels for the pre-mix, IVF Technology 900mm gauze sheet impregnation unit with drying oven and slitter, and Sutcliffe Croftshaw solvent recovery system.

The line comprises the following main units:
Unit 1: Three 1000 litre stainless steel mixing tanks for the preparation of
solvent. These mixers are used for mixing the solvent with the chemicals
according to a formula to prepare the POP pre-mixture.
Unit 2: IVF Technology AG (Switzerland) impregnation calibrating system with
slitting device with vertical oven. Accepts gauze of max. 900-mm. Variable
speed up to maximum 6 metres per minute.
900 mm cotton gauze is passed through an impregnation tank containing a
slurry of POP and then through adjustable metering rollers to pick up the
correct amount of the plaster. It then passes into a space-saving (3m high x
720cm long) vertical oven where it dries. The oven is heated to 100ºC using a
diesel heat generator. The dried web then discharges into a slitting machine
equipped with pneumatic knives. These knives are adjustable to the desired
bandage width. The POP strips are loaded onto reel cores for removal and
further processing.
Unit 3: Complete Solvent Recovery Plant including two stainless steel vertical
2500mm diameter flatbed adsorbers.
Designed & part manufactured by Sutcliffe Croftshaw Ltd, (now Megtec Ltd)
from UK.
The solvent (in vapour form) from Unit 2 above is collected and passed to the
recovery unit where it is adsorbed on a bed of activated carbon. Thereafter it
moves through a process of heat exchangers where it is liquefied and recycled
into Unit 2 above. About 90% of the solvent is recovered.

The output of the plant is up to around 6 metres per minute, or 2500metres
(900mm width) per 8-hour shift
