Suitable for the cutting of spur and helical gears, pinions, splines, sprockets, worm gears and other workpieces of similar profile up to 36” (900mm) diameter, 18” (457mm) face-width, up to 10-Module (2.5 DP)

This standard P-900 Original Pfauter machine platform of early 1980s vintage was utilized for a complete and professional re manufacture/rebuild, including new electrical switch-gear, and GE FANUC 18iM “CNC” control, in 2000. The machine was supplied to a major gear manufactuirng house in the USA in 2000 where it was employed for a number of years before becoming available for sale as surplus.

1.) MECHANICAL Machine cast iron bed, column, work-table, cutting slide, steady-column and slide re-ground and/or re-scraped, with guidways and machine geometry checked to be within new machine tolerance limits using original machine factory protocol All parts subject to wear, (gaskets, seals, way-wipers, drive train bearings, etc.) Replaced with new. New preloaded ball-screws and nuts for radial and axial drives installed
New preloaded trapezoidal screw drive nut for shifiting
(tangential) installed
Accuracy of the worm gear drive for the table group checked as being within at least din 3 precision parameters
Higher precision gear set for the milling head installed and checked as being within at least din 3 precision parameters
All new slideway covers installed

2.) COOLING SYSTEM / ENCLOSURE / SAFETY
Complete new coolant system, (pump, vlaves and chip conveyor), installed
Full new enclosure for work area, including work-lamp
with new guard-door With safety interlock

3.) HYDRAULIC / LUBRICATION
New hydraulic power unit, including installation of new hydraulic pumps, valves, with new flow-control and pressure gauges, including installation of new pressure
Switch with leds and new filter, with new filter elements
Installation of new central power forced lubrication system with new fittings, hoses & indicators

4.) ELECTRICAL / CNC control
Complete new electrical system with new air-conditioned control cabinet and wiring
All new push-buttons, switches, contactors and relays replaced with new GE-Fanuc 18i-M CNC controller, motor and drive package, w/gear cutting software
And user friendly conversational dialogue prompts for set-ups and/or amendments,
Aiding the operator with graphical depictions via 10.4" CRT color screen, mounted on electrical switch-gear cabinet.

CNC controlled motions as follows:
X-Axis - Radial feed, C-Axis - Work table rpm
Z-Axis - Axial feed, Y-Axis - Tangential feed/hob-shift
B-Axis - Hob rpms
Continuous path digital control provides programs for axial, radial, tangential, diagonal, climb, and conventional hobbing cycles as well as "crowning" and "single index"
Milling/hobbing, with additional "M" function features, and various hobbing & milling cycles in different combinations, inclusive of "skip feed" and "automatic-two-cut" cycle w/speed and feed change between both roughing and finishing cuts
Control with “electronic hand-wheel” for easy positioning of all CNC-controlled axes ( standard software features )
