The device is used as a backup source of 1.8 MPa steam, especially in case of failure of one of the back pressure turbo generators, when there is a deficit of 1.8 MPa steam or in other special manipulations requiring the reduction station as a source of 1.8 MPa steam by direct reduction from 9.6 MPa steam.
A total of 4 of these reduction stations are used in the steam system of the Heating Plant.
